Tofo town is situated 22km outside Inhambane town. This picturesque town was often referd to as " the land of the good people " by the early explorer Vasco Da Gama. Inhambane is alive with a mix of cultures which infuse Arabic, African and European styles.The town has seen at least ten centuries of habitation and its easy to loose yourself wondering through the tree lined streets. Tofo is a quaint seaside town situated close to an infamous point halfway between Jangamo and Barra .This point is marked by a Frelimo monument to fallen heroes. Getting to TOFO is a tar road which leads through Inhambane town. The EN1 Is the highway connecting Maputo to the rest of Mozambique . Inhambane is approx 470 kms North of Maputo. The turn off to Inhambane is just after the town of Lindela. From the turnoff to the main town is approx 38 km , the road is narrow but in not to bad condition. Once in the town , follow the signs to TOFO. This road is potholed so take it easy. With the town in site you will see signboards to the left indicating BAMBOOZI BEACH LODGE and LIQUID ADVENTURES. This is a dirt road that winds past a few lodges and beach bars and through a coconut grove straight into BAMBOOZI. It is not necessary to engage 4x4 and many cars get through.  View in Google Maps
